GREEN CHALLENGES OF EKOPOLIS

 The global campaign STOP CLIMATE CHANGE 2011, was marked with the opening of solo exhibition of photographs and installations of Dragan Vidojkovic, multimedia artists, by EKOpolis media network in Niš in `European corner`, Nis. This exhibition, called "GREEN CHALLENGES OF EKOPOLIS" was sponsored by Palilula Municipality, in consultation with the members and eco-network partner organization Education Center in Knjazevac. The exhibition opened Milan Djurdjevic, president of Palilula Assembly, who emphasized the importance of civic activism and interactive cooperation between local authorities and civil society.

FIREWOOD FOR FAMLIES IN NEED

 After successfully accomplished activities on the project "Strengthening of municipal capacities for improving the quality of life of vulnerable social groups" from the "Exchange 3" programme, the management of Palilula continued to monitor and assist vulnerable families. They provided firewood for 50 socially vulnerable households in both urban and rural area of the municipality. Visiting households this week was done by Milos Stojkovic, a member of Palilula Municipal Council and Milan Djurdjevic, president of the Municipal Assembly with their associates.Dobrivoje and Slobodanka Zlatanović live in a house made of mud in Mramorski potok village.

FIREWOOD FOR SIX FAMILIES

 Action "firewood for socially-disadvantaged Palilula families`` is also continuing this week. Milan Djurdjevic, president of Palilula Municipal Assembly and a member of the Municipal Council Milos Stojkovic, visited the villages of Donje Medjurovo I Bubanj village. They donated 18 meters of firewood. Four families got firewood in Gornje Medjurovo village.Snezana Pavlovic, 48, a single mother, living with her son,17. She is unemployed and from financial benefit has the revenue in the amount of 6,000 dinars, and children's allowance in the amount of 2,500 dinars. There are debts for electricity, water and other utilities. She has been operated of tumor.

PAVED ROAD FROM THE BRIDGE TO HOLY TRINITY CHURCH IN LALINAC VILLAGE

 President of Palilula PhD Igor Novakovic and his associates, members of the Municipal Council, Milos Stojkovic and Boban Mikic, visited the contractors (`MB Gradnja I Niskogradnja`) working on the road from the bridge in the village Lalinac to Holy Trinity Church. According to the project, 750 meters of road will be paved and the completion is November 28 according to the contractors` words.The villagers of Lalinac, after decades of promises, finally got the bridge over the South Morava River, of 155 meters length, with the investment of 100 million dinars. Funds for this project were provided from the State and City budget.

HELP FOR GRANDMA CVETA

 In Lalinac village, Palilula delegation headed by President Prof. Dr. Igor Novakovic and member Municipal Council, Milos Stojkovic, visited the household of Kokan Milenkovic. He takes care about his mother Cveta Jovancic. The old woman is 79 years old, operated from stomach cancer and for a year not getting up from bed. `The right to someone else's care is denied to Grandma Cveta although she has all the bases for the realization of this right`, says the son. President Novakovic donated three meters of firewood also to this household during the actions of supporting vulnerable households.

HELP FOR VULNERABLE HOUSEHOLDS CONTINUES

 During the project "Strengthening Municipal capacities to improve the quality of life of vulnerable social groups" from the "Exchange 3", which was last year successfully implemented by Palilula Municipality, 4908 Palilula socially vulnerable residents received free assistance of experts, doctors, sociologists, psychologists, lawyers and caretakers. As the donor was unable to provide further support to the sustainability of the project, Palilula Municipal president, PhD Igor Novakovic said that Palilula within its authority would continue to care for disadvantaged residents of its own municipality. `Our capabilities are modest, but what is more important in the life of families who literally drawn "ends meet", said Novakovic, on the occasion of starting firewood donation to vulnerable households.

PARK `SUMICE` CLEANED
OF OLD CAR GEARS

 In Nis settlement - Ledena Stena, Palilula Municipality, last weekends the action of cleaning this `little forest` was successfully performed. Sumice is situated at the border part of Memorial park Bubanj, between elementary school Bubanjski heroji and Special school Bubanj. In this action 110 car gears of various sizes were collected and 2 cubic meters of various wastes. The objective of this ecological action, that was organized last weekend according to the words of Svetlana Petrovic, president of Puls association, is to clean `Sumica` of new dumps and car gears and to make faster the adaptation and arranging of the space into procreative park. The activity that came before the cleaning seems that was not the reminder to citizens without consciousness to go on with old practice, waste removals from the places where they are not supposed to be.

 Palilula Municipality send an invitation to all interested economic entities that are business active at the territory of Palilula to submit to the Centre for entrepreneurship of the Municipality basic facts about their firm: short description of activities, address, contact person data, information about manager, phone number, e mail, logo sign and web site of the firm.These information, according to project manager Milan Nikolic words, will be in the catalogue of small and medium enterprises and entrepreneurs that will be realized within the activities of the project `Establishing synergic dialogue between Serbian and Bulgarian entrepreneurs SME and professional organizations in order to develop the sustainable development of experience`.

NEW CLEANING OF `SUMICA`,
LEDENA STENA

 Cleaning of small forest that encompasses the border parts of Memorial Park `Bubanj`, between elementary school `Bubanjski heroji` and Special school `Bubanj` in Palilula Municipality, will be on Saturday November 19 at 10 00.`The objective of this action is to clean `Sumica` of new dump places and old gears above the streets `Zrtava fasizma` and `Nikodije Stojanovic –Tatko` and to redecorate this area as recreational park` – says Svetlana Petrovic, president of `Puls` Association.The action `Save Sumice – lungs of Ledena Stena` is organized on November 17, World day of ecological movement and global world campaign Clean up the World. This activity is well, known thanks to great persistence of the citizens-volunteers of Ledena Stena settlement to redecorate and clean the neglected parts and to make of it new park place.

BABIES OCCUPIED NATIONAL ASSEMBLY

 At the Hall of National Assembly `Battle for Babies` action - the central manifestation on the occasion of the completion of was organized. In the scope of this action, more than 160 incubators were provided. Guests of honor of this manifestation were premature born babies who were clinically taken care of in this way and whose faces were used in the campaign. The President of the Serbian Assembly Slavica Djukic Dejanovic reminded that on the last recensement 380,000 citizens less in Serbia than on the last one and that giving stimuli to birthrate increasing is one of the biggest priorities of Serbian society. `We have to praise not only Novak Djokovic, great students of Mathematics high school, sportsmen, we have to mention, praise and glorify 380,000 little heroes in dippers, it is the task of everyone of us- that is how the status of Serbia is made, said Djukic Dejanovic.

BATTLE FOR BABIES, BATTLE FOR
THE FUTURE OF OUR CITY

 ’Battle for Babies’ launched on September 1 this year the action started because we are, as the country, facing the fact that baby incubators in Serbia ad even older than 40 years and that in this way the health and life of the premature born babies are directly affected. After the action, initiated by Palilula Municipality of Nis in one month and in the cooperation with the Student Parliament of Faculty of Natural Sciences, B92 Fund representatives, youth organization `Puzzle 'and the coalition of civil society organizations, the campaign" `BATTLE FOR BABIES` got new donors in Nis and three incubators were provided. Thus, in the words of Palilula President, PhD Novakovic, we awoke the conscience of Nis citizens, as well as those who run this city, managers of large companies, entrepreneurs.

SECOND WORKSHOP COMPLETED

 Palilula Municipality is one of 12 municipalities and only one in Serbia that entered Municipal Support Programme (MSP IPA 2007) and thus joined the Action Plan elaboration with the help of consultants MSP IPA 2007. At the first workshop, held in early July this year, each of the priority projects was being developed by special working group consisting of Municipal government officials and representatives of Palilula Municipality, responsible institutions and stakeholders. During the second workshop, held at the end of this week in Nis cultural center, working groups chose a strategy of projects implementation, created action plan and project budget and presented their project ideas. According to the President of Palilula words, with this project of support during the next five years, 44 projects development are planned of which 11 are priority.

 The programme of communal infrastructure construction in rural area of Palilula is being successfully realized in 2011 thanks to the efforts of Palilula authorities and good cooperation with Communal enterprise `Naisus` in Nis and Citizens councils of Local community offices, I.e. Commissions that are nominated by the Citizens Council of Local community offices and Council of Local communities. On this occasion the representatives of Palilula authorities Milan Djurdjevic, president of Palilula Assembly, Milos Stojkovic, member of Palilula Council and in the presence of Aleksandar Mitic, director of Communal Enterprise Naisus – Nis, all three participated in the work of the Council of village Gabrovac.

ASSEMBLIES CONFIRM THE DECISIONS ON COOPERATION

 The president of Palilula Assembly Milan Djurdjevic and Head of Municipal administration Bojan Ilic visited Municipality Lazarevac for the concretization of the Agreement on cooperation. Two decisions of the Municipal councils of Palilula and Lazarevac came before this meeting. Finishing word on this initiative will give the members of Municipal Assemblies. The delegation of Palilula Municipality visited the participants of Third Fair of Serbian vines in Lazarevac. This year fair of the best vine makers of Serbia gathered and presented about 30 vineries attracting great number of visitors. According to the words of Milan Ivkovic, president of Lazarevac Municipality, the basic idea of this festival that was organized with the motto `Time is for vine, let us drink domestic` is to show the quality of the vine produced in Serbia.

On Saturday 12 2011 at 20 00 actress Nadja Nedovic will play `An actor is an actor is an actress` according to Zijah Sokolovic play script.At the press conference organized for the `Battle` campaign in Palilula Municipality, Ljiljana Kostadinovic, director of Puppet Theatre and Nadja Nedovic, actress spoke about the cooperation and contribution of the artists and cultural institutions to humanitarian activities.

FLOWER POTS PROTECT PEDESTRIANS

 Activities of Palilula authorities on traffic roads adaptation, specially traffic cross- roads and providing conditions for safe pedestrian walking and regular normal traffic regulations in Palilula parts are being successfully implemented. Last week in Delijski Vis settlement, at the turn of Marina Drzica and Ljubomira Nikolica streets 11 flowers pots were placed. This investment of 35, 000 RSD value, allowed safe passage of pedestrians at the sidewalk. PhD Igor Novakovic, president of Palilula Municipality, who visited this location with the associates, explained the value of the works in financial sense that is not very high but the project significance for the local citizens is very big. Branko Miljkovic elementary school, also one health center are very close to this spot and pupils, students daily are exposed to traffic dangers.

 According to the Palilula tradition this Municipality informed the schools and faculties from its territory about the preparation of Calendar for 2012. This publishing project will be illustrated with the photos of the best students and pupils from Palilula.
